The motherboard is the central circuit board in a computer. Connected to the motherboard are: the CPU, expansion cards like graphics and network cards, system memory, hard disks, and other peripherals supporting various functionality. Some motherboards contain built on adapters for networking, sound, video and more. The BIOS, which initiates booting up the computer is part of the motherboard.
